Scrying is the practice of looking into a reflective medium to detect significant messages or visions. The objective could be for personal guidance, prophecy, or inspiration. In its various forms it has been a prominent means of divination and fortune telling. Scrying has been practiced in many cultures and it is believed scrying can reveal the past, present and/or future.

There are various media used for scrying. The media is usually an object that has a reflective, refractive, translucent or luminescent surface. Some use crystals, stones, and glass in various shapes. Others use mirrors, water surfaces, fire, smoke and even glowing coals.
